How Grandma Charlotte's simple burgers inspired a neighborhood New York counter.
The Charlotte Burger That Started It All
Chef-owner Adam Schop opened Lovely's Old Fashioned in Hell's Kitchen in April 2023, inspired by the burgers his grandmother Charlotte made with pickles and onions on a potato bun. Her influence lives on in Charlotte's Special: American cheese, caramelized onions, and Charlotte sauce, built around the simple flavors Adam still loves.
A Retro Hell's Kitchen Counter, Built with Care
Designed by Kevin Devine and Brian Mackin of Farewell NYC, Lovely's channels the roadside diners of the 1950s and '60s with dark navy and green, a metallic counter, a vintage Coca-Cola clock, and Grandma Charlotte's portrait. The hand-painted brick wall by David Tousley completes the old-school New York feel.
